Happy New Year!
We boldly declare 2014 to be the Year of the Relationship Coach.
Why?
The “Me” generation has finally given way to the “We” generation (more info here). It is more and more apparent that we are inter-dependent beings that can’t change the world or find happiness or fulfillment alone, or through money, work, sex, material objects… nothing really works or fills our cup unless it is shared and we are finally “getting it.”
“A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.” –John Lennon
One of our favorite indicators that the tide has shifted towards relationships is that, for the first time in recent memory, a couple has won a national television talent competition.
Alex and Sierra didn’t have the best voices and weren’t the most talented X Factor contestants, but they won. Why? Because of their relationship.
Below is a short interview of this inspirational couple. Our favorite excerpt at 1:05 is when the interviewer says-
“We see something in you that we don’t see anywhere else. You guys are so authentically committed to each other.”
Well, of course we see authentic commitment elsewhere, but the reality is that this couple has deeply touched us as a culture and remind us of what’s most important in our life, which happens to be our specialty as relationship coaches.
Welcome to the Year of the Relationship Coach!
